In the name of beauty

Since I moved to this new position, I am much closer to the hospital (as in directly across the street) and much more action occurs. Its kinda nice to be able to look out my window and people watch. An added bonus is I am directly next-door to a bank that draws lots of passer bys. I have even been caught ogling at some eye candy as they made there way to the ATM machine. Yesterday, I tried to leave work 20 minutes early for my nail appointment. It was a must that I get there on time because my manicurist had to leave a little early. I knew that it would be damn near impossible to get my nails done today because of my early evening hair appointment. At 4:40, I hop in my car and attempt to make my way out of the driveway, the only drive way used to get in and out of the small office complex. Once I saw a tow truck blocking my way out of the driveway, I began to get mad. I begged the tow truck driver to please back up a few inches so that I could get out of driveway because I didnt want to be late for my very important nail appointment. The tow truck driver gave me this odd look and said Hey lady, dont you see the police blocking the entrance to the driveway, I dont know how you are going to get past them. I looked up, past the tow truck and sure enough there was a police car partially blocking the driveway into the complex. I squinted a little and saw that directly on the other side of the business complex, in another parking lot, there were police standing behind their cars with guns pointed at the office directly next to mine, which happens to be the bank. My first thought, Oh shit, someone is robbing the bank! My second thought, Oh shit, Im going to be late for my nail appointment. For a brief second, I worried about my safety. I considered running back into the office, but what would be the point. If the robbers were going to shoot, the bullet(s) could very well go through the wall and hit me in the back. I managed to very carefully inch my way past the tow truck, maneuvered my truck past the police car blocking the driveway and quickly sped past all the chaos. After all, I could not dare be late for my very important nail appointment. The things us women do in the name of beauty. |
