Today was supposed to be one of those normal working days. The only thing abnormal that I had planned today was a (dreaded) trip to the dentist. I dont normally get excited about going to the dentist, but since I have been in this new position (for 7 months now) any time off is greatly appreciated especially if it means I get to leave earlyor better yet, I dont actually have to go to work. I wish I could say that I am sad about not making it to the dentist, but my day was much more relaxing then a day at work or a trip to the dentist could ever provide. So what exactly is it that caused this sudden normal day to turn so abnormal you ask???
Thats how my beautiful eye looked when I woke up this morning. And even after I put in my eye drops for my constant eye allergies, my eye remained in that constant state. But I am a trooper went to work anyways because this eye nuisance is nothing new to me and I figured it would clear up after awhile. I tried to avoid my co-workers for as long as I could. Working around a bunch of RNs, I knew they would flip once they saw my eye. I avoided eye contact as long as possible but eventually someone got a good look at my eye and before I knew it my supervisor was instructing me to go home and have my eye checked out by my primary doctor. I of course followed her instructions (I did put up a little bit of fuss only because I was already up and at work and I knew I had a short day anyway). So instead of spending my day trying to fix sick peoples problems, I treated myself to a matinee, got my car washed and had some frozen yogurt from Cos.tco. Sure, my eye is itchy, watery and I have kind of gunk oozing from it but I can live with it. The best part is I get to spend another relaxing day at home tomorrowsince technically, I am still contagious for another 24 hours. Hot damn, I love pink eye.
