Same shit, different year

The Christmas Cruise was FABOLOUS! A very unique and fun way to spend the holidays. Of course it would have been even better if all the family could have gone too. My Mom turned out to be really good company and we had a wonderful time in Mexico. The weather was ridiculously gorgeous. While aboard I laughed at the Americans shown on CNN that were digging there way out of the snow on the East Coast. I chuckled when I saw all the plane delays over the holidays due to bad weather. Then I went and grabbed a Pia Colada and proceeded to the Sun Deck to take in the Mexican Sun and lovely 80-degree weather. We are working on plans to take a cruise next year for New Years. I did meet a boy on the ship (surprise, surprise). Not your average boy. A foreign boy. And a boy that happens to be an employee of Princess Cruise Lines (how convenient). Hes from Grenada (how I long to visit one day) and has the most beautiful accent (rather not say how many times I had to change the undies after listening to him talk). We exchanged numbers and e-mail addresses. Since he worked on board that was about all he was allowed to do with the passengers. We talked a lot. I spent more time than I care to admit in the lounge that he worked in just so that in his free time we could chitchat. It would not surprise me much if I never see him again. 11 months of the year he lives on a boat that spends a few hours a week in the port of LA. It is only then that he can talk on his cell phone. And most of the time spent in LA is used to get the ship ready for the next group of passengers ready to set sail. The only other contact that he has with the rest of the world is via the Internet. New Years eve was supposed to be spent at home sleeping. I was tired and since my return from Mexico, I could literally count the number of HOURS that it did NOT rain. It was cold and not good weather to celebrate in. I got talked into going out to dinner and later to a house party. I ended up having a good time and meeting a boy. He caught my eye the minute I walked in. He was bald (weakness number 1), he had beautiful black skin (weakness number 2), he was dressed nice (weakness number 3). So he was a tad bit shorter than I like em (59 to be exact) and with my boots (I have the off white ones) on I stood a good two inches over him. I saw his smile and looked past the whole height thing. But of course my luck with the boys has no such existence, so like many before him, he has baggage and a past that may be hard to over look. I soon learned that Rie knew him as Doggystyle. Why you ask??? Doggystyle was his stage name back when he stripped (i.e. Took all his clothes off {except for his man thong} for a living).
So Dogg (his new Dland name) and I exchanged numbers. Hes persistent. I was in one of those moods over the weekend in which socializing and jabbering on the phone was out of the question. Dogg called my twice on Sunday and once on Monday night. I finally decided to take his call. We talked for a while. And the drama only begins with his former occupation. Dogg also has three kids by his (soon to be {or so he says}) ex-wife. What made me assume that he and the ex had been separated for a while, I dont know. It was only two months ago that he and the ex were together, living under one roof, as a family. He says that he and the ex have been having problems for a while (funny, I have heard that before) and now he is living with his Mom until he can find a place of his own. Did I mention that he is 33?? A little FYI: It took me all of 1 weekend to find a place of my own and only one weekend to move from the Roomies apartment to one of my own. Thats a total of two weekends to get my shit together. Of course I have no idea what his situation is like but I hope that he is not just mooching off his Mom ant that his long term plans do not include shacking up with his Mother. Dogg and I talked for a long time Monday night. Apparently he has a lot more to offer than a good strip show. I am trying to be optimistic and give Dogg a chance. He has some of the qualities that I loathe about men. But he has some qualities that make me wonder if he is really worth getting to know. |
