Job perks
|
I probably should not complain about my job much. I do enjoy it. It is simple enough for me to do. Challenging when I need to be challenging and it pays modelsty. Only problem is, I am not a modest type of girl. I am extravagant. I love my Diva lifestyle just cant afford it most of the time. During down times at work I screen shop. Its a lot like window shopping, the only difference is I do it from my computer monitor. I look at all the pretty sandals and even save my favorites to my shopping bag in hopes that one day my bank account will suddenly have more than 4 figures in it. Im still waiting for the miracle. So, while my job is good, my pocket book is lacking. And I have decided to take matters in to my own handsliterally. You see, there are some perks to working for this big ass hospital/university. They of course want their employees to be top notch. Its bragging rights for them. They are even willing to pay for things such as school, conferences, workshops and other educational programs that will make the employees better and more efficient at their jobs. I decided to take my employer up on the $3500 yearly scholarship opportunity. I got this crazy idea in my head that I wanted to be a massage therapist. I need a part time job that will help support my Diva lifestyle and will not interfere too much with my current job or my personal life. I applied for the scholarship, enough to cover my tuition and books. Nearly $2000. I got word today that my scholarship request has been approved. Of course I had to prove that I intend to use my new skills in conjuction with my current social work reponsibilities. But truthfully, I am looking for the added monetary benefits that will be benefical after hours. I am pretty excited and I am looking forward to starting the CMT program next month. By early fall I will be Blackpearl, MSW, CMT. |
