Its amazing what a pair of freshly starched jeans, button up shirt, leather jacket, leather boots and a scarf can attract. Its barely 8:30 in the morning and all ready, two men have decided that I am worthy of a little attention...to that I say THANK YOU! Been having a hard time sleeping, or rather staying asleep. Seems to happen a lot around this time of year. Havent figured out why yet. I woke up around 5:00 this morning. Something unheard of for a woman who insists on sleeping past the 6:45am wake up call. After tossing and turning for 38 minutes, I finally got up decided to first sew the button back on my brand new shirt (somehow I managed to snap the little button in half when I tried it own a few nights ago, i just don't know my own strength at times) then make an early morning run to the store I love to hate. It seems to be the only one open before 8:00am. As I walk out of Wal-Mart, a man in a newer Camry stops me to say he spotted me walking out of the store and was hoping for a chance to get to know me better. I was flattered. Its not often that you get hit on at 7:45 in the morning walking out of Wal-Mart. For a brief minute I considered giving the boy my number. After all, I am working on securing a real date this year. It wasnt until I glanced in the back seat of the car and noticed the child seat that made me change my mind. I told the boy that I had a boyfriend in order to protect his feelings. Had I said what I was really thinking, he may have run me over with his car as I walked across the street to return the cart. Even though I said I had a boy toy already, he continued to ask me for my number. He wanted to know if there was any way that we could talk despite my current relationship status. That pretty much resonated that there was no chance in hell we would ever talk again. Evidently he could care less that I was in a (fake) relationship, which makes me believe that having a significant other does not mean much to him. Not exactly my type of man. I decided to get some coffee this morning. I figured after waking up so early, I was going to need it. As I waited for my soy mocha, a half way decent guy walked in. I sized him up, and thought about how I was going to get his attention. I didnt need to think long, he made the first move. After the first two words that came from his mouth, I knew, it could never be. He reminded me of a white washed black man. A Carlton Banks (Fresh Prince of Bel Air), Braxton Hartnabrig (The Jaime Foxx Show), or Jimmy (The Barbershop). and so the search for the perfect date continues.... The (long, yay) weekend looks hopeful. Dinner and a play tonight, birthday party tomorrow and another party on Sunday night. Surly with all these outings I am sure to meet a potential weekend fling. Im keeping my fingers crossed. |
