I survived Dallas
|
I survived Dallas. I had a wonderful timeI am not sure if that was allowed considering I was supposed to be their on business. I ate like a queenkeeping WW in the back of my head the whole time. I didnt make it to the gym like I had planned. Despite all the food around me, I think I did a farely decent job watching and controlling what went into my mouth. I will admit it was hard. Every night a new Pharmaceutical company took us out to eat, and not to your typical TGIF of Applebees. We went to restaurants that did not list the price of your meal or listed it as market price. Its not to often you get to eat at places like this and someone else is picking up the tab. Unfortunately all the restaurant were fancy ass steak houses (apparently Texans only eat steak and potatoes) and I dont do steak. But I made it through the week eating fish and salads and tasting a new wine each night. Yep, I took full advantage of this new experience of letting someone else pay. And I liked it. I only made it to two workshops in those 4 days (shhhdont tell anyone). The rest of the time I spent shopping or wondering around the exhibit hall collecting all kinds of cool shit that I dont need but had to have. Some of the semi useless shit I stuffed into my suitcase included various pens that light up, t-shirts, coffee mugs, aprons, a barbeque spatula, hot sauce, an umbrella, key chains, a mini etch a sketch, a mini football, lots of stuffed animals, magnets and water bottles and I entered every contest that was offered. Most of the junk I collected will be given away to my pediatric patients but some of the useless crap will come in handy. Can you ever have too many pens, coffee mugs or water bottles? If any of you have ever wondered why the hell your prescription drugs are so damn expensive, its because the pharmaceutical companies need lots of money to waste on crap to give away and so their reps can have obscene expense accounts in order to impress a bunch of people by taking them to a fancy steak houses and ordering expensive wine and lots of desserts. Did I happen to mention that I am considering pursuing a job as a pharmaceutical rep?? After talking to one of the nicer reps (who insist that I send him my resume), I realized that I could get very used to the life that includes an expense account, lots of travel and a company car. I am a junky for money. |
