another small step in an unknown direction

My absolute favorite holiday of the year just passed. No, I am not talking about Thanksgiving, but rather Black Friday. I live for the Black Friday and yes, I am one of the many crazy people that get up before the sun even thinks about rising to catch whatever door busters and giveaways the many stores try to entice its customers with. I am a sucker for sales and freebies. This year, I ventured out in the cold and rain at 4:30 in the morning and I have absolutely nothing to show for the interruption of my precious sleep. I had $180 dollars that Mr. Man gave me burning a hole in my wallet and could not find a thing worth wasting the money on. After only two hours, I gave up, went home and caught up on some sleep. I was tired of fighting the crowd, tired of searching for a parking spot and depressed because I had no idea whether I should be looking for new house stuff or not. I had expected to hear from the owner of the duplex before Thanksgiving on whether or not I got the place. When I never heard from the owner, I assumed that I didnt get the place and I would have to spend Saturday looking for a new place. Which also meant saving the few dollars Mr. Man gave me to use for credit checks and all the other BS that I would have to come out of the pocket for. Later that day, the owner of the duplex called me to tell me I got the place. So, its finally official. I am moving out of Mr. Mans house next week. At first I was a little sad about moving out but when I begin to think about decorating my new space the way that I want it and not walking into the bathroom only to stare at sweaty underwear I get excited. My new space is nothing like any of the other apartments I have had before. It is an older place and has that old charm, hardwood floors, fireplace and lots of windows. Of course the whole layout of the place makes no sense at all which is part of its charm (a lot like me dont ya think?) and all the more reason that I am looking forward to making it all MINE! In the meantime, I have to hustle to make sure that I can pay the deposit and first months rent at the last minute. Which means I may have to resort to working my backup job. The night job that I hate but make decent money doing. I made one call and just like that, I am on for tonight. Did I mention I interviewed for a new job? I am waiting ever so anxiously to hear back. We are talking a $6000 a year pay raise. That alone makes my undies moist. |
