No Confession but a Philly update
|
Confession time already?? Errhold on while I try to think of something good and meaningful to confess about. Damn shit around me is kinda slow. I cant think of anything. SO instead I will discuss what I been up to lately. Oh yeah, notta damn thing. ********************* Change aint always easy. For the last three days I have been arranging and re-arranging my living room. I went out Monday and bought a new couch cover, new pillows and a lamp. I wanted my house to look more Springy. I set everything up only to take it right back down last night, stick it back in the bags and its all going back to the store. My living room furniture has been in 3 different positions the last 3 nights. I finally found an arrangement I can live with for now. Next is the bedroom, which is going to be hell. I still have not unpacked my clothes from the Philly trip. Speaking of Philly, I guess I forgot to give a quick update on the trip. I had a really good time. Jen, I think you will have a good time there this summer. I could have used a few more days there myself. But my cousin and I are trying to make plans to visit this summer. One thing I wasnt expecting was how ghetto Philly was. Some of the hair-dos and clothes had me reminiscing of my Detroit days. Oh and Buppie took me to this shoe store that had a deejay in their spinning hip-hop. And the damn store was packed with people. I swear I aint never seen anything like that beforebut then again thats one hell of a marketing concept. The party Buppie took me too was cool. We got in free cause Buppie seems to know errbody. The music is different from what you would typically hear at a west coast party. There was a lot more hip-hop. Not just your everyday hip-hop but for real hip-hop. A lot of the songs I had never even heard before. But I gotta kick outta watching the hip-hoppers bopping their heads and getting excited over the songs. One thing that kinda caught me off guard in Philly was blatant racism that Buppie and I experienced. It was colder than a bitch outside and we were waiting for a cab along with another white women. Buppie and I were outside waiting before this women so obviously we were next in line for a cab. When a cab finally pulls up, Buppie goes to open the door and the cab driver locks the door. The cab driver steps out and signals to the white women to get in, stating that she called for the cab. The white women had just told me not even a minute earlier that she did not call for a cab so we knew the cab driver was lying. Basically he didnt want a couple of black people in his cab. But the worse part was while Buppie is arguing with the cab driver (that shit was hella funny), the white women tells me this is wrong, but proceeds to go get her family and hop her ass in the cab. WTF?? Its wrong, but hello.you aint making the situation right! The cab driver can get away with shit like that because you fucking let him. Of course I wrote the cab drivers information down and Buppie filed a complaint and I will too. Shit like that has to stop. I dont know what it was about Buppie and I that made that cab driver decide that we were not good enough to get in his cab. Our money is just a green as the white womens. Oh wait I know what it wasour skin was not as white as hers. Even though stuff like this happens often, it still shocks the shit out of me. Whats even crazier is I think that the cab driver was from another country (based on the accent). See what white America is teaching people. I think Im going to write the NAACP too. Maybe if enough attention is drawn to the situation something will eventually change. But then again, maybe not. |
