New gig
|
The new gig is going well. A few things that I am definitely going to have to get used to though. 1.Its a very small office. 4 of us to be exact; 1 peds. nurse, 1 adult nurse, 1 program coordinator, 1 social worker (that would be me). Oh of course there is the peds. doc and the adult doc but they both work out of the hospital. 2.I am the youngest one here. 3.I am the only one with even a hint of color i.e. black. 4.Once again I have to walk forever to get to my office. Last year when I started working here, I had to walk about 3-4 blocks to get to my office. Then our office moved and for a mere $70 a month (yes that is sarcasm) I had the pleasure of being able to park in the parking lot behind my office. Now I have to make sure I get to work an extra 10 minutes early just so that I can walk to the office. That shit will really suck when it gets cold and starts to rain. I am on a waiting list to get a parking spot closer to the office, but I am number 52 on that list. I suspect name should come up around next spring. Lets just hope that I am still here. 5.I have to be at work at 8:00 now instead of 8:30. And since the program coordinator is an older women who is always on time, and since the office is much smaller, that means no more sneaking in a half hour late or leaving an hour early or taking 30 minute breaks or 2 hour lunches with the co-workers. ....remind me again why I took this job??? Cause it sure wasnt the money. Oh yeah that whole thing about experience and learning something new and trying to become more marketable in my field. Ok the perks of the job. 1.I am actually doing what I went to school to do. 2.I am learning so much. 3.I get to roam freely around the hospital and scope out potential eye candy (I saw a few last week while visiting a patient in the hospital). 4.Drug companies who want us to hustle their drugs for them take us out to lunch at least once a week. 5.We get lots of freebies from these companies. In just a week I have gotten a really nice calendar, coloring books to give out to the kids, cute pens and a cute coffee mug. 6.I get to go to Dallas in November. 7.My new desk is 3 times as big as my old desk. I can actually back up without bumping into a wall. I suppose the new job will do for now. But you best believe that I am going to keep looking. One of these days I am going to make what I am worth. |
